I have been revisiting and refining my MFA thesis that I did at the Visual Studies Workshop in 2009 and made it into a photo book. (Not sure why the front page image is off-center). Anyway, I think I am finally done with these pictures. America’s mix of religion and commercialism continues to be a endless source of amusement/fascination for a European like me

Wondering whether I should invest in this camera. I have been looking for a smaller, but high quality, digital camera for some time. Anyway, this camera would be my substitute for a digital Leica which is most definitely out of my prize-range

Polaroid Landscape Scan

Been a little while since I took my Fujifilm Instax 210 out for some photographing, so this is a landscape I did a while go.  Starting to get to know film. Cold weather is not exactly ideal for this kind of film however

Lars Tunbjork; Country Beside Itself

One of my absolute favorite photographers, Lars Tunbjörk. His photo-book “Country beside itself” (Landet utom sig) has been a huge inspiration, and I wish there was available copies out there for a reasonable price. His photographs are just so wonderfully strange !

American highways are an endless source of inspiration, and I am very curious how this project will turn out. First look at new images are almost always a disappointment. Over time, however, some photographs slowly becomes interesting, and it is often the ones you passed over in favor of others. Its a strange experience !

Recapturing Rochester New York

This project is a photographic exploration into the lesser known, lesser explored parts of a city. The idea for this project came after flipping through a photobook called “Capturing Rochester”. The intention of “Capturing Rochester” was, of course. to show Rochester from its most appealing side. Hence,  the book was  filled with glossy and pleasing photographs of well-known places around Rochester. Even if the pictures certainly were nice to look at,  it did not really tell anything that I did not already know.

Every city has its strange, overlooked places that are at least as interesting than the more visited places. The last couple of years that I lived in Rochester, I photographed all over the city. Some ugly, strange, beautiful, quiet and noisy places.usually void of people but the traces of human activity was everywhere. Alltohether they gave me an insight into the complex nature of a city.

Highway 10

Highway 10 goes all across the state of Minnesota, starting south of the Twin Cities and ending in Moorhead in the northwest.

You can learn a lot about America simply by observing the landscape next to this road. Everything that you read about in the news is here;  the culture wars, politics, religion, commercialism, nostalgia, sex.

That being the case, I am looking forward to photographically explore Highway 10  in the coming months.
